    Anambra State ANSEC Approves Modification and Completion of Abandoned Court Building

    Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and members of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) have approved the modification and completion of the abandoned court building, as well as the renovation and upgrade of associated structures within the Court of Appeal Complex, Awka, the state capital.

    The State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, stated that the Council made the decision at the 23rd ANSEC meeting held at the new government house named the Light House, Awka, on Monday, 17th November 2025.

    Additionally, Governor Soludo’s ANSEC has agreed to the rehabilitation of failed portions of Court Road and Obunagu Road within the Awka Metropolis.

    Recently, the governor approved the contract for the upgrade and facelift of the State High Court in Awka, and the furnishing of judges’ residences at the judge’s quarters in Onitsha, as part of his regeneration project.

    In view of this, Mefor affirmed that Governor Soludo’s administration is transforming Anambra State, turning it into the Dubai-Taiwan Silicon Valley of the country, where innovation, economic, and business activities thrive.

    The Commissioner explained that the governor’s transformation is evident in vital sectors of the state’s economy, including infrastructure with numerous road constructions and flyovers connecting various communities in Anambra, and the regeneration of towns and cities with a modern drainage system to ease flooding and erosion.

    In health, where the governor was recognised as the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast region and overall nationally, coupled with the building of new general hospitals with telemedicine, and employment of skilled healthcare personnel, and in education, with the construction of smart schools with free education and employment of over 8,200 teachers for improved learning.

    Governor Soludo has enhanced the state’s security architecture with the Agunechemba security system and Operation Udo Ga-Achi (meaning peace shall reign), to support existing law enforcement agencies in preventing crime, an initiative that is already gaining traction and yielding results.

    Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has reached an agreement to make the Christmas yuletide season exciting and memorable for the people of the state, with a fiesta themed “Onwan Dezemba.”

    The decision was reached at the 23rd ANSEC meeting, held at the Light House, Awka, on Monday, 17th November 2025, where other state issues of sustainable development were deliberated upon.

    The State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, stated that the Council affirmed that the magnificent festivities would be held at the Solution Fun City, Awka, the reconstructed and remodeled Ekwueme Square, among other recreational facilities in the state.

    “This is to make Christmas unlike any other,” Mefor said.

    According to the Commissioner, plans to make the yuletide period electrifying will include masquerade festivals, Christmas Carols, masquerade festival, and musical fiestas, with well-known Nigerian musicians, among others.

    As a world-class entertainment and relaxation centre, the Solution Fun City boasts a cinema, a waterpark with six different swimming pools, family and children’s play zones, and an arcade and country club, offering a diverse range of activities for all ages.

    Mefor asserted that the facility is part of Governor Soludo’s transformation drive in making Anambra a place where people can play, enjoy, and relax.

    Described as unparalleled, Governor Soludo said, “This is a fun city like no other; there are no comparable facilities in the world,” adding that Anambra would now be seen as a destination hub rather than merely a departure lounge.

    The governor stated that the current complex is only the beginning of a larger vision to build the largest fun city in the world in Anambra State.

    It is a project poised to inject new life into Anambra’s economy, for job creation, with many members already recruited and trained, another proof of the governor’s commitment to transforming Anambra from a departure lounge to a destination, the Dubai-Silicon Valley of the country, where economic and business activities thrive.

    Governor Soludo Affirms Uga Smart School Project Would be Completed Soon

    Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has stated that Uga Boys High School, one of the 22 schools being upgraded into model smart schools by his administration, would be completed by the end of the year.

    The governor made this known during an unscheduled inspection visit to the school recently, where he expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the site.

    Governor Soludo further commended the workforce for their dedication and speedy work on the contract, which was awarded a few months ago.

    During the inspection, it was observed that while some existing structures were being reconstructed, new multi-storey buildings, a gatehouse, drainage systems, and internal roads were also under development within the school premises.

    Governor Soludo is transforming 22 secondary schools into smart schools, with many to come, setting a standard for what an ideal school should be.

    This is across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, and through the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) programme, with the approval of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC).

    According to the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, Governor Soludo’s administration will continue to strengthen the state’s free education policy and enhance existing programmes to provide quality education to students in the State.

    He said the state has extended its free education policy to Senior Secondary School Year 3 (SS3) and recruited an additional 3,115 teachers, increasing the number to 8,115. It has equipped 60 secondary school laboratories with the required Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) equipment. It has also increased the operational budgets for primary and secondary schools to ensure they can deliver the quality education promised, among other initiatives.

    Governor Soludo’s administration is also enhancing digital skills among youths in the state by empowering millions of young minds and encouraging tech-innovative communities.

    This is through the One-Youth-Two-Skills Scheme, which has recorded a huge success with the Cohort One, where 7,163 out of 11,000 trainees have excelled in 65 skill areas. Additionally, 235 apprentices from the Local Enterprise Development of 21 local governments in the state were successful, with over 1,000 millionaires emerging from the graduates, with the process of Cohort Two already approved.

    Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a quality healthcare system in Anambra State, having transformed the health sector since his inauguration.

    The governor stated that beyond initiatives in primary and secondary healthcare, such as building five new general hospitals and recruiting health workers, his administration is also focusing on tertiary healthcare.

    He disclosed this during an inspection visit to the Trauma Centre under construction at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, where he said that the absence of the facility was a major gap that requires attention.

    Governor Soludo affirmed that the trauma centre is expected to be completed within the next two months and expressed satisfaction with the progress of equipment installation at the site.

    Recently, the governor improved healthcare delivery at the General Hospital, Anaku, in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra state, with the supply and installation of electrical and mechanical appurtenances.

    According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the project is part of Governor Soludo’s transformation of the health sector, which has enjoyed lots of development since his three years in office.

    While transforming the health sector, Governor Soludo earned recognition as the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast region and overall, nationally. As a result, Anambra received a total of $1,200,000 for the award, $500,000 for the feat in the Southeast, and $700,000 for overall excellence in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge.

    The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has named the new Government House Mini City the “Light House Awka,” in keeping with Anambra State’s slogan, “Light of the Nation.”

    This was the outcome of the decision made during the 10th ANSEC meeting and the third to be held in the new government house, on Monday, 2nd June 2025.

    According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the Light House Awka comprises the newly built Government House and Lodge, the building of the Deputy Governor, the Governor’s Office, 24 other structures, a world-class amphitheatre, and an auditorium, with an eight-lane dualised road, named Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard, leading to the mini-city.

    Recently, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended Governor Charles Soludo for his impeccable and incredible leadership qualities, which have been demonstrated through his infrastructure and transformation of Anambra, including the new government house.

    The 34-year jinx broken by Governor Soludo for building the new government house mini-city was also applauded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was overwhelmed with what he saw, saying, “Anambra is rising and we are ready to work with you.”

    Innoson and Other Structures Violating Federal Highways’ Right of Ways in Anambra Were Duly Notified Since 2024 – Anambra Government Clarifies.

    Anambra State government has cleared the air on the misleading information regarding the Innoson Motors Showroom that was partially demolished at Nnewi, as notice of evacuation was issued since 2024 at a stakeholders meeting.

    It stated that since the inception of the Soludo administration, there has been no instance where demolition or removal of structures was undertaken without due process and consultation with critical stakeholders.

    According to the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, on 31st of October, 2024, a notice of a stakeholders’ meeting was issued to all concerned and affected persons whose businesses and properties were on the right-of-way along the Nnewi-Ozubulu-Onitsha federal highway.

    Mefor stated that Dr. Innocent Chukwuma knows he was given notice several months ago and he spoke to several people about it more than three months ago, including a call to the Governor.  “Unfortunately, while we appreciate the high position of Innoson in the society, we cannot have a different set of rules for Innoson and another one for others,” he said.

    The said Innoson property was listed in the registration as belonging to Mrs. Eucharia Alaru and was marked as ASML/AOA/NW/L/066 for removal. This is in line with the Federal Government’s “right-of-way” which is clearly defined by the subsisting Federal Highway Act of 1971, as the ground within 45.72 metres from the centre line of any federal highway in the nation should not be occupied.

    This is a safety measure to secure and preserve human lives and ensure easy and unfettered vehicular movement.

    Mefor affirmed that this fact was pointed out to stakeholders at the meeting on the 1st of November 2024, and further communicated in the public notice signed by the Commissioner for Works subsequently.

    “While we sympathise with all affected businesses and properties along the statutory right-of-way, we must underscore that a government that has acted within the confines of the law, empathy and compassion cannot be blackmailed by any individual or group to derail the ongoing development of the state for selfish reasons,” he asserted.

    Interestingly, the Soludo administration has continued to champion the cause of indigenous enterprises in words and action, exemplified in Governor Soludo’s decision to make Innoson Vehicle Motor (IVM) his official fleet. It is on record that he is the first and still the only state governor to do so to date.

    “It is, therefore, pertinent to correct the deliberate misinformation peddled by paid content creators to discredit the good works of the state government. Their narrative is false, untrue, and at best, mischievous and a political machination of a few to score cheap, albeit selfish points,” Mefor clarified.

    He added that those paid to spread falsehood, deliberately refused to also report that properties belonging to the first National leader of APGA, Dim Ojukwu, as well as his wife and current Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, churches, and hundreds of others, were also demolished in the ongoing effort to rebuild Anambra.

    Mefor further remarked that making Anambra livable and prosperous requires a state governed by law and order for everyone and no exceptions for the powerful.

    Mefor said the former Governor of Anambra State, former Senator, and former Minister, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, was one of the bigwigs who told Soludo at the Abuja town hall meeting that he has no opposition, using the phrase “Carry go!”

    Dr. Ngige revealed that he was requested by the remaining minuscule number of APC faithful in Anambra State not to endorse Governor Soludo, but said he had gone to Anambra to see the transformation made by Soludo’s administration and was overwhelmed, stating, “I came. I saw. But I did not conquer. I confirmed. Odenigbo, carry go!”

    With Abuja and Lagos adding their voices to the endorsement galore – and that of the UK on Monday, 21st April – Governor Soludo’s re-election stays quite certain.

    Before the Lagos and Abuja town-hall meetings, where Governor Soludo went to present his scorecard to his people, pending the London town-hall meeting as well, there was an avalanche of endorsements by a wide range of organisations, from students, youths, and scores of support groups.

    Impressively, the Lagos town hall meeting came a day after the esteemed Vanguard Newspaper honoured Governor Soludo as the Vanguard Governor of the Year for Good Governance.
