The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on Saturday announced the arrival of 269 stranded Nigerians in India via its Twitter handle.
The agency disclosed that 103 of the evacuees arrived in Lagos and 166 in Abuja at about 2am. The management of Air Peace in a statement also confirmed the airlifting of the evacuees.
NIDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa in a tweet said that, “we welcome them home. Just spoken to one of them who is in very high spirits. They must present themselves for an @NCDCgov Covid 19 test, 14 day compulsory isolation before their passports are released to them, according to the new guidelines @DigiCommsNG.”
The NIDCOM also made it known that, all evacuees tested negative before boarding the plane and would undergo another test within 72 hours of arrival in designated testing centre made available by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
