The Honourable representing Iseyin, Kajola, Iwajowa, and Itesiwaju Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Shina Oyedeji, popularly knows as O’shine has been urged to deliver more dividends of democracy to his constituency. In a conversation that ensued from a WhatsApp group named Apero Omo Okeho Global and monitored by our correspondents, which was sparked by a post about a first-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, the federal lawmaker representing Ibarapa North-Central Federal Constituency, who has facilitated appointments for 158 constituents. Reacting to this, a user with the username Tadex Prosper said, “Hope our own rep has secured federal government appointments for his constituents, like his co-rep, a first-timer, has done.” In his reaction, a user with the name Iwapele Omo Giwa said, “Surely, O’Shine is also doing his best within his capacity, and you’re not uninformed about his accomplishments.” AdesokanAdeyemi00 reacted, saying, “Our own rep is not up to that; maybe we can wait for his second term if God permits.”
Tadex Prosper further argued his point in response to Iwapele Omo Giwa by stating, “I’m uninformed… Can you at least mention 10 of his constituents who have benefited from federal government appointments through him? Or are you referring to the distribution of exercise books and toilets? How many bills has he sponsored so far in two years?” Muiz Adeshina stated, “I understand everyone wants to see visible results, especially when it comes to our representative delivering for our four LGAs. But let’s also remember that not every good work is about sharing money or posting job ads on social media. This is his first term in office, representing a very large constituency, and navigating the federal system takes time, especially for newcomers. Progress doesn’t always come with noise—some are quietly laying a solid foundation that will show results in the long run. Let’s not rush to compare him with those who have been in the system for years or who may have access to different resources and connections. Constructive criticism is okay, but let’s also give room for growth and be patient. At the end of the day, it’s not about popularity—it’s about real impact.”
Adeola Ak05 stated, “Please, let’s leave politicking and propaganda. Let’s work on facts and figures: how many people has he helped into federal appointments? How many visible constituency projects has he done? How many people have benefited from him? So that we can know where to praise him and where he needs adjustment, so that his good turn will deserve another.” AdeyemiOladimeji59 reacted, saying, “Yes, good talk. Our political leaders should be held responsible because they are seeing or hearing about what other reps are doing for the people of their constituents. Why should he not do the same? They should call him into order.”
Opeyemi Amosun stated, “Kai! I don’t want to hear that one. Arise ni arika, arika ni Baba iregun. Which politician will hide what he or she has done? Or are his beneficiaries hidden? Laahanmi ni Bata n ke lotu Ife.”
Meanwhile, Iwapele Omo Giwa shared a reaction signed by Hon. Oyedeji, which stated, “In line with our commitment to deliver many of our campaign promises, we are taking it one at a time. Note that we strongly believe in the capacity of our youth to deliver a promising future that will feature us and be of benefit to our children as well. Our trust in them starts with our strategic engagement, which includes supporting their dreams and passions. We shall equally mentor them and lend a helping hand where required. Today, we have secured another partnership with a trusted business development brand from Nigeria. This brand will provide a series of support for ongoing businesses in our Federal Constituency.
