The local market Index continued its impressive bullish run today, advancing by 28 basis points to close at 121,989.67 points. This marks the third consecutive day of gains, further reinforcing positive investor sentiment.
Large-cap stocks, including ZENITHBANK, GTCO, ACCESSCORP, FIDELITYBK, DANGSUGAR, and OANDO, drove today’s positive market sentiment and gains across 52 other equities.
The Year-to-Date (YTD) return settled at 18.52%. Market capitalization rose by 0.28% to ₦76.97 trillion, reflecting a ₦211.84 billion increase in investor wealth.
Three of the five tracked sectors posted gains, led by Insurance (+2.48%), Industrial (+0.97%), and Banking (+0.45%), driven by strong interest in AIICO, UNIVINSURE, BERGER, CUTIX, WAPCO, ZENITHBANK, GTCO, ACCESSCORP, and FIDELITYBK. Conversely, Consumer Goods (-0.13%) and Oil/Gas (-0.05%) declined due to price dips in INTBREW, HONYFLOUR, ETERNA, and ARADEL.
MARKET ACTIVITY: Market activity was down today as the traded volume and value depreciated by 11.84% and 19.88% to 888.70 million units and ₦15.61billion respectively
MARKET BREADTH: The market breadth, which measures investor sentiment through the Gainers/Losers ratio increased to 2.81x from 2.71x as 59 stocks appreciated, 21 stocks depreciated and 48 stocks closed flat.
FIXED INCOME MARKET: The Treasury Bills and Bonds market showed bullish sentiment today, with yields at 19.11% and 16.89% respectively.
CURRENCY MARKET: The Naira appreciated by 0.55% to ₦1,520.75
