The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) marked International Women’s Day 2026 with a strong message, celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across the country while reaffirming its commitment to bridging the digital divide.

In a statement posted on its X handle on March 8, the commission harped on the crucial role of women in the nation’s tech ecosystem.

The commission used the IWD 2026 occasion to rally support from stakeholders for greater female inclusion in the digital space.

The NCC advocated: “Let’s keep bridging the digital divide & empowering women to thrive in a connected world!”

It would be recalled that the EVC/CEO NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, had during the commemoration of the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024, advocated the need for the government, corporate entities and other stakeholders in the Nigerian digital ecosystem to empower and include women in governance at all levels.

He said: “At NCC, we recognise the immense value that diversity brings to our workplace, and we are committed to fostering an environment where women are empowered and included.

“As we celebrate women today, we invite the government, corporate Nigeria, and the telecom and ICT industry, to join us in building and nurturing an ecosystem that promotes talent and skills for our female gender, while promoting equal opportunities for their growth and advancement”, the EVC added
