Aba Power Limited understands the concerns of some customers regarding their recent electricity bills. The company acknowledges the impact of rising operational costs, including foreign exchange fluctuations, inflation, and import tariffs, on the overall cost of electricity delivery.

As a privately owned utility, Aba Power operates without government subsidies and must adhere to a cost-reflective tariff model to ensure the sustainability of its operations. While the company shares in the economic challenges faced by its customers, it remains committed to providing reliable and uninterrupted power supply.

The electricity bills for unmetered customers are determined by NERC regulations using the average vending (recharge) of prepaid customers on the same feeder. This method ensures that charges are based on actual energy supply and usage within the area. It’s important to note that NERC imposes a penalty on Discos utilizing this capping methodology, incentivizing the accelerated deployment of prepaid meters.

Aba Power is actively working to expedite the rollout of prepaid meters through its mass metering initiative. However, customers are also encouraged to utilize the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme to acquire meters quickly and gain control over their energy consumption.

“We understand the concerns of our customers,” said [Name and Title of Spokesperson]. “We are committed to improving service delivery and encourage all customers to take advantage of available options, such as the MAP scheme, to acquire prepaid meters and manage their energy consumption effectively.”

Aba Power remains dedicated to ensuring a steady and reliable power supply across all feeders in line with service level agreements.
