The Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Nigeria, Ambassador Legesse Geremew Haile has paid a strategic visit to the headquarters of Specific Tools & Techniques Limited (ST & T) in Lagos to explore new opportunities for investment, digital infrastructure development, and cross-border collaboration between Ethiopia and Nigeria.
ST & T, one of Nigeria’s leading engineering and facility management companies with over two decades of operational excellence in the telecommunications and power sector, is currently expanding its operations across several African countries, including Ethiopia.

During the visit, Ambassador Legesse held high-level discussions with the company’s investors, executive management team, and board members on opportunities to deepen investment collaboration and accelerate telecommunications and facility management-driven economic development across Africa.
Representing ST & T, Mr. Femi Owopetu, Engr. Daramola Sheriffdeen, and members of the management board delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the company’s achievements in Nigeria’s telecommunications and technology industries over the years. The presentation also provided insights into the company’s investments in Ethiopia, outlining progress made, current operational realities, and challenges encountered within the business environment.
In his remarks, Ambassador Legesse commended ST & T for its growing footprint across the continent and reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors.
The Ambassador provided an overview of Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reform agenda, highlighting key milestones achieved through the country’s digital transformation strategy. He noted significant progress in the telecommunications and financial technology sectors, describing them as critical pillars of Ethiopia’s economic modernization programme and attractive destinations for foreign investment.
He further outlined the wide range of investment opportunities available within Ethiopia’s technology ecosystem and innovation ecosystem, while explaining measures being implemented by the Ethiopian government to improve service delivery and enhance the ease of doing business.
Addressing concerns raised by the company’s management regarding operational challenges, Ambassador Legesse detailed the strategic interventions being deployed by the government to resolve bottlenecks through digitalisation initiatives.
The Ambassador assured ST & T of the Ethiopian Embassy’s continued support and encouraged the company to explore additional investment opportunities within Ethiopia’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
“Ethiopia remains committed to supporting investors and fostering an environment that encourages innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable business growth. We believe companies such as ST & T can play a significant role in advancing our digital transformation agenda while creating mutually beneficial economic opportunities,” Ambassador Legesse stated.
Both parties acknowledged Nigeria’s leadership position in Africa’s technology ecosystem and agreed that greater collaboration between African countries in technology infrastructure development, operational frameworks, regulatory systems, and capacity building is essential to unlocking the continent’s economic potential.
They further emphasized the importance of working closely with relevant government institutions and private-sector stakeholders to strengthen digital connectivity, accelerate innovation, and support the broader objectives of regional economic integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The visit marks another important milestone in strengthening economic ties between Ethiopia and Nigeria and underscores the growing role of African-led enterprises in driving digital transformation, infrastructure development, and sustainable economic growth across the continent.
