NNPC Limited confirms that an explosion occurred at approximately 17:50 hours on Wednesday, 10th December 2025, around the Tebijor, Okpele and Ikpopo communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd, Andy Odeh said initial observations gathered by our technical teams indicate a significant pressure drop consistent with a loss of containment on a pipeline operated by the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC). While the cause of the explosion is currently unknown, a detailed investigation has been launched and will confirm the root cause upon its conclusion.

Our utmost priority at this time is the safety and well-being of residents in nearby communities and the rigorous protection of the surrounding environment.

Emergency response procedures have been activated immediately. NNPC Limited is working closely with relevant regulatory authorities and respected community leaders to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to mitigate the impact of the incident.

NNPC Limited remains deeply committed to upholding the highest safety and environmental standards across all its operations.

Further updates will be provided to the public as more confirmed information becomes available from the ongoing investigation.
