President Tinubu needs to establish an Industrial Targets Commission with devastating powers to punish ministers and state governors who fail to meet agreed national objectives

[1] By 2030, every state government must generate its running costs at the very least through internally generated revenue

[2] By 2030, every state must be able to generate, distribute and transmit the power it uses locally

[3] By 2035, Nigeria must match the 31 tonnes of steel produced by Brazil and Iran

[4] By 2035, Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) must at least total $2trn

[5] By 2040, Nigeria must match South Africa’s 21,000km of railway track. Our current figure is an embarrassing 3,600km

[6] By 2035, Nigeria must account for at least 10% of all clean energy produced globally

[7] By 2040, Nigeria must account for at least 10% of all electric cars manufactured worldwide

[8] By 2040, Nigeria must match Turkey’s ratio of 3.2 hospital beds per 1,000 persons. Our current figure is so low it does not even feature on any global list

[9] By 2035, Nigeria must match South Africa’s 750,000km of tarred road. Our current figure is an embarrassing 195,000km

[10] By 2035, at least six Nigerian companies must have a market capitalisation of $1trn each
