Makinde Rewards Òkehò-Born Winner of MAN National Mathematics Competition

Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde of Oyo State has rewarded the winner of the 2021/2022 edition of the MAN’s National Mathematics Competition, Miss Balogun Azeezat.

Balogun Azeezat, an SS1 student of AL-Balagh Model College, Isia, Òkehò, Kajola Local Government area of the state, was crowned in “Nigerian Mathematics Competition 2021/2022 academic year” after emerging the overall best student among the students in the state.

Receiving the Award of Excellence at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Oladipupo Ogunlesi Hall, Opposite U.C.H main gate, Ibadan, at the event tagged “A-Day with Governor” organized by Oyo State Ministry of Education, Governor Seyi Makinde who was ably represented by his Deputy, His Excellency, Barrister Adeleke Adebayo Lawal congratulated Balogun Azeezat and AL-Balagh Model College for making Oyo State proud, describing her “a special gift and blessing from God”.

The Governor first thanked God for the feat and went further to commend her parents and the entire management of the school. He, therefore, announced a cash donation to the girl for achieving the feat and another donation to other students from other schools for their outstanding performance in various state and national competitions. He, however, assured the the government’s preparedness to partner with the associations in mutually benefitting areas.

Speaking shortly after the award ceremony, the Principal of the school, Mallam AbdulWasii Oseni expressed gratitude to Gov. Makinde for the recognition and Award of Excellence presented to Balogun Azeezat, saying: “we are very happy; we pray that God in His infinitive mercy will continue to guide him (Makinde) in all he is doing. He will be prospering in everything he lays his hands upon”.

Expressing her profound gratitude, the Awardee, Balogun Azeezat said, “My sincere appreciation goes to Almighty Allah for making it possible for me to emerge as the winner of the competition. I am equally thanking my parents and the school. I am hoping that more students will get this kind of opportunity”.

On her candid advice to other students, Balogun Azeezat said: “If you read hard and pray hard, your dreams will surely come true”.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event include: Rt. Hon.Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly; SSG Prof. Olanike Adeyemo; Chief of Staff, Otunba ‘Segun Ogunwuyi; Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni; The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu; the Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusanjo Joel Adeniyi and other stakeholders in education family.
