    NCSP DG Participates in Inaugural World Data Organization Assembly in Beijing

    The Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Joseph Tegbe, joined other international delegates at the inaugural assembly of the World Data Organization (WDO), held recently in Beijing, China.

    The high-level gathering convened over 500 participants, including senior government officials, multilateral institutions, and digital technology experts, marking a significant step toward strengthening global coordination on data governance and the digital economy.

    Accompanied by the NCSP Head of International Relations, Ms. Judy Melifonwu, Tegbe’s participation underscores Nigeria’s growing strategic interest in global digital cooperation, particularly within the context of its bilateral engagement with China.

    As Director-General of the NCSP, his presence reflects ongoing efforts to position Nigeria as an active stakeholder in shaping international frameworks governing data access, utilisation, and security.

    The assembly featured a keynote address by Ding Xuexiang, who delivered remarks on behalf of Xi Jinping, the Vice Premier. In his address, he emphasized the need for coordinated global action to harness the value of data while ensuring security, inclusiveness, and trust in the digital economy.

    For Nigeria, participation at this level presents significant opportunities to engage in global standard-setting discussions on data governance and cross-border data flows, strengthen bilateral cooperation with China in advancing digital infrastructure and innovation, unlock new pathways for investment and knowledge exchange within the digital economy, and position Nigerian institutions and talent to benefit from emerging global data ecosystems.

    The establishment of the WDO signals a new phase in international collaboration on digital transformation, and with Tegbe’s engagement, the NCSP continues to play a pivotal role in aligning Nigeria’s strategic interests with evolving global opportunities in data and technology.

    NCSP and PICTT Sign MoU to Strengthen Technology Transfer and Industrial Development

    The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) and the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer (PICTT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in technology transfer, industrial development, and strategic investment facilitation.

    The signing ceremony was attended by the NCSP Director-General, Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, the leadership of PICTT, led by its Chairman, Dr. Dahiru Mohammed and Special Adviser to the President on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr John Uwajumogu. Also in attendance were the leadership team of PICTT and NCSP.

    Speaking at the event, Dr. Dahiru Mohammed emphasised that technology transfer and strong local content participation are essential to the successful execution of national infrastructure and industrial projects. He noted that while the MoU marks a major milestone, the core of the partnership will be defined by coordinated implementation beginning immediately.

    Mr John Uwajumogu reiterated China’s position as Nigeria’s largest trading partner and highlighted the need for structured frameworks that identify and attract high-value investments capable of driving industrial growth and job creation.

    Ms Judy Melifonwu, NCSP’s Head of International Relations reaffirmed that the MoU is expected to help unlock significant benefits for Nigeria, including increased access to advanced Chinese technology, expanded STEM-focused scholarships and technical training opportunities, enhanced mechanisms for strategic investment identification, and collaboration across sectors such as steel development, agriculture, automobile industrial parks, and cultural–industrial initiatives.

    The Director-General of NCSP, Mr Tegbe, reaffirmed the organisation’sdedication to structured execution, noting that NCSP has found in PICTT a partner driven by passion, expertise, and shared purpose. He underscored the importance of measurable indicators and accountability frameworks to ensure the partnership delivers tangible national impact.

    The MoU marks the beginning of a more deliberate and coordinated phase of Nigeria–China cooperation focused on delivery, local content development, and sustainable economic advancement.
