Kwara ex-Reps member Ahman-Pategi dies few weeks to his 60th birthday

A former member representing Edu/ Patigi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from Kwara State, who also doubled as the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University in Patigi, Nigeria, Hon. Aliyu Ahman- Pategi, is dead.

The founder of Ahman-Pategi University, Pategi, in Kwara North, died on Thursday, October 24, at National Hospital in Abuja

He was also a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the build-up to the 2019 general elections in Kwara state.

The Ahman-Pategi family in a terse statement posted on social media platforms, announced the death of their son.

The statement reads: โ€œInnalillahi waina ilahi rajโ€™una, Hon. Aliyu Bahago Is Dead

โ€œMay Hon. Aliyu Bahagoโ€™s soul rest in peace. He was a notable figure in Nigeria, serving as a member of the House of Representatives and Pro-Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University in Patigi, Nigeria.

โ€œHis contributions to education and politics will be remembered. May his family and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time.โ€

Kwara governor Abdulrazaq mourns

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is shocked and saddened over the death of former House of Representatives member Hon. Aliyu Bahago Ahman-Pategi.


Governor Abdulrazaq, who has joined the family at the National Hospital where the former congressman died in Abuja, sends his heartfelt condolences to His Royal Highness the Etsu Patigi Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, the people of Patigi Local Government Area, and the Ahman-Pategis on this sad event.

Governor Abdulrazaq says Hon. Bahago would be remembered for his many investments that uplifted different people, including those he facilitated as a congressman and those he built as a community leader, such as the Ahman Pategi University (APU).

โ€œWe are sad and devastated at the death of the Galadiman Patigi, but we surrender to the will of Allaah, our maker and nourisher. To that extent, we ask Allaah to forgive Hon. Aliyu Bahago, admit him to al-jannah Firdaus, and give his family the patience to live with this harsh reality,โ€ the Governor says.

Pioneer VC, Ahman Pategi University, Prof Mahfouz Adedimeji mourns

The pioneer Vice Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, who is currently the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the African School of Economics (ASE) in Abuja, has expressed his condolences to the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, management, staff, and students of Ahman Pategi University following the passing of its beloved founder, Hon. Aliyu Ahman-Pategi.

Describing the late lawmaker as “a visionary man of the people, a philanthropist par excellence, and a committed community leader,”

Adedimeji highlighted Aliyu Ahman-Pategi’s unwavering dedication to the educational advancement of his community and the nation.

โ€œSteering the university from the start was a turning point in my life, with the vast experiences garnered being transformative and unforgettable.โ€

Prof. Adedimeji extended his sympathies to the family, friends, and numerous associates of the late founder, praying that “the Almighty Allah grant them all the fortitude to bear the loss.”

He further expressed his shock at this tragic occurrence, offering prayers for the soul of the renowned lawmaker and Galadima of Patigi, beseeching Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him entry into Aljannah Firdaus.

In a show of solidarity, he also reached out to the Etsu of Patigi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Bologi II, whom he referred to as “a father to me and the nation,” as well as the entire Patigi Emirate.

Prof. Adedimeji urged all associates and stakeholders to come together to ensure that the legacy left by the late founder continues to thrive, reinforcing the impact of his vision on future generations.
