Arriving on 4 November, the concert film celebrates a catalogue that continues to find new life with listeners.

Ten years after the release of “Mad Over You,” Spotify premieres [Runtown] Surround Sound on 4 November 2026. Directed by Tim Horwood and filmed in the round in Lagos, the full-length concert film brings audiences into an intimate performance tracing the songs, moods and moments of Runtown’s career.

The anniversary arrives as “Mad Over You” continues to grow. Spotify’s data, as of 15 September 2026, shows the song had accumulated 140.7 million lifetime streams. Its 36.6 million streams in 2026 up to that point had already exceeded the 33.4 million recorded across the whole of 2025. A decade after its release, listeners are still making room for it: the track appears in more than three million user-created playlists.

The film places that enduring connection within a wider musical story. Across four chapters, the set moves from “Lagos to Kampala,” “Tradition” and “Kini Issue” through “If E Happen for Lagos” and “Gallardo,” before exploring the moods of “Dangerous Heart,” “Painkiller” and “High Spirit.” “Mad Over You” opens the final chapter, which also includes “Unleash” and closes with “Energy.”

“‘Mad Over You’ has become part of people’s lives, and the listening shows that relationship is still growing. Surround Sound gives us a way to celebrate that connection through Runtown’s wider catalogue, with the artist and his fans at the centre. This film carries the intimacy of the Lagos performance to everyone who wants to experience it,” says Rifumo Mdaka, Content Marketing Manager for Spotify in Africa.

Recorded with fans surrounding the stage, the performance brings the relationship between Runtown and his audience into the frame. The four-chapter structure gives familiar favourites and deeper catalogue selection space within the same story.

“The four chapters give us room to explore the different moods in Runtown’s music. We wanted the film to carry that progression and the feeling of being surrounded by people who know these songs intimately. By the time we reach ‘Mad Over You,’ the audience has travelled through the wider world that gives that song its place,” noted Tim Horwood, Spotify’s chosen director for this project.

Surround Sound is Spotify’s live performance format originating in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its Lagos recordings brought artists together with selected Spotify Premium fans, invited through their listening behaviour, and captured those encounters as full-length music films.
