…urges Nigerians not to desist from praying for the country
The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo A. Ayokunle, has announced to Baptist Faithfuls and the nation at large that the 2021 Annual Session of the Nigerian Baptist Convention will be taking place at the new Baptist International Conference Centre Kilometre 54, Lagos/Ibadan Express Way from April 24-29, 2021. This was unveiled at a Press Conference held in Lagos.
Rev. Ayokunle, said, I am excited that to announce that the theme of this year’s programme is, ‘Moving Forward: Finishing the Race with Joy.’ Acts 20: 24.
According to him, “The Christian life is a race. It has to be run with strict adherence to the rules of the Scriptures. The race does not stop until the final whistle which is the home call has come.”
He continued, “This Convention is to call the attention of all the children of God to the perseverance of faith and watchfulness in all things, especially in prayer and through the words of God. It is to encourage us to live by the Spirit and shun the deeds of the flesh.
While reeling out the programmes for the Convention, the President said, “We invite the general public to join us on Saturday for the opening session and the dedication of the new worship Centre at 1.45pm which will be followed immediately with opening worship service. Equally, on Sunday, there would be another evening worship session beginning at 3pm where the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention will deliver a message on ‘Finishing the Race with Joy.’”
Similar worship services will be held till Wednesday at 3pm.
Rev Dr. Ayokunle urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the nation. As the nation is currently inundated with series of challenges ranging from kidnapping, terrorism, and a series of coordinated attacks on government facilities.
The Denominational leader prayed that Nigerians need to pray for purposeful leadership so that all of what God has endowed the nation with who be of immense benefits for the citizenry.
Other denominational leaders at the Press Conference include the Convention Chairman, Rev. Dr. Michael A. Abodunrin; Vice President, Ministerial, Revd Dr. Dickson Madoghwe; VP, Admin and Finance, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede and the Conference Presidents of the three Lagos Baptist Conferences namely; Revd Dr. Matthew Awujoola; Rev. Dr. Samuel Oladiran and Rev. Dr. Victor Bamidele Akerele. Others are the Director, Youth and Students Ministries of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Revd Dr SAK Olaleye; Pastor New Dawn Baptist Church, Revd Dr Samson Adedokun; Pastor, Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Revd Dr Israel Kristilere; Executive Vice Chairman, Verdant Zeal Group and the Chairman, Media and Publicity for the 2021 NBC-in-session, Dr Tunji Olugbodi.
