Bulls Hold Sway as Trading Week Ends; Investors Gained N48.30 billion; Naira Appreciated by 5.87% to N791.75/(USD).

The Nigerian Equities market extended its positive tempo to close the trading week in the green region, as the benchmark NGXASI gained 12bps to peg the All-Share Index at 71,112.99 points to end the week, as against its previous close of 71,025.16points.

The gains in today’s market can majorly be attributed to price appreciation in Seplat Energy (+7.69%), Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (+2.31%), United Bank for Africa (+0.48%), Access Corporation (+0.29%), CILEASING (+9.93%) and 31 other stocks which kept the ASI in a positive terrain.

Consequently, the year-to-date inched to 38.75%, followed by a 0.12% increase in market capitalization to close at ₦39.11 trillion as investors’ wealth appreciated by N48.30 billion.

Market activity for the day varied as value traded increased by 37.77% to N6.03 trillion, while volume traded decreased by 8.74% to 441.58 million units.

We anticipate a mixed trading next week as we expect sentiments from the fresh inflation data to slip in.

CURRENCY MARKET:

The Nigerian Naira appreciated by 5.87% against the US Dollar in the NAFEM Window, closing at a rate of N791.75/USD.
