EQUITIES MARKET:
The NGX extended its bullish run for the fourth straight session, rising 45bps to close at 108,849.83 points, as sustained interest in largecap stocks kept the bulls firmly in control.
Strong buying interest in major stocks like GTCO, NB, ZENITHBANK, FIDELITYBK, ACCESSCORP, and WAPCO, along with gains in 44 other stocks, helped push the market higher.
Consequently, the Year-to-Date (YTD) return climbed to 5.76%, and market capitalization rose by 0.45% to ₦68.41 trillion, translating to a ₦307.17 billion gain in investor value.
Sector performance was mostly positive, with three out of five major sectors closing higher. The Banking (+2.12%) and Consumer Goods (+2.11%) sectors led the charge, boosted by strong gains in
GTCO, ZENITHBANK, FIDELITYBK, ACCESSCORP, FBNH, HONYFLOUR, NNFM, INTBREW, and NASCON. The Industrial Goods sector also edged up by 0.15%, thanks to gains in BETAGLAS and WAPCO. On the flip side, the Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors declined by 0.18% and 0.15% respectively, as investors took profit in OANDO and SUNUASSUR.
MARKET ACTIVITY: Market activity traded positive as traded volume and value appreciated by 23.56% and 34.25% to 587.47 million units and ₦18.66 billion.
MARKET BREADTH: The market breadth, which measures investor sentiment through the Gainers/Losers ratio stood at 3.13x as 50 stocks appreciated, 16 stocks depreciated and 64 stocks closed flat.
FIXED INCOME MARKET: Average yields on Treasury Bills and Bonds market closed flat at 20.49% and 18.58% respectively.
CURRENCY MARKET: The Naira depreciated by 0.12% to close at ₦1,608.60
