Explosion Rocks Ibadan; State Government in Control, Urges Calm

Today, an explosion occurred at approximately 8:00 PM in a private building on Deji Oyelese Street, Adeyi Avenue, Ibadan. Surrounding buildings sustained damage, and emergency responders are currently on the scene.

Initial reports indicate the explosion originated from within the private apartment. Law enforcement agencies, including the bomb squad from Odogbo Barracks, are actively investigating the cause and ensuring the safety of the area. The explosion caused power outages, plunging the surrounding area into darkness and leaving a cloud of black dust.

The Oyo State Government is responding swiftly to the incident. “There are various interpretations of the incident,” said the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade. “It is important to state categorically that the state government has taken over and is in full control of the situation to mitigate the impact.”

Governor Seyi Makinde has deployed all security service chiefs, including para-military and fire personnel, to manage the situation and prevent further incidents. He urges citizens to remain calm and assured that their safety is a top priority.
