The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji AbdulQuadir Shuaib Akanbi, stated this in his office while briefing journalists on the preparation of Governor AbdulRazaq-led administration for the Nation’s 59th Independence Anniversary.

The Permanent Secretary noted that despite the challenges witnessed in Nigeria since independence, the Country is thriving, thereby assuring that the Country’s condition will improve if the entire citizens conscientiously work together for the progress of their fatherland and be tolerant of one another irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

Alhaji Akanbi congratulated Kwarans for having a responsive and responsible Governor and charged Kwarans and Nigerians to see the 59th Independence Day Celebration as a period of sober reflection and attitudinal rebirth, saying it is through this that Nigeria will achieve social, economic and technological developments.

He said that the grand finale of the Anniversary, which will be celebrated at the Metropolitan Square, Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin, on the 1st of October, will be preceded by a Special Jum’at Service at Oja-Oba Central Mosque on the 27th of September, and a Special Church Service at Saint John African Church, Maraba Road, Ilorin, on the 29th of September, 2019.

The Permanent Secretary further informed that this year’s Independence Celebration will be special in the State because it is the first to be witnessed by the new Government.

While charging Nigerians to avoid any act that can lead to social unrest and national disintegration, he enjoined Kwarans to be patient with the new administration and disclosed that there are a lot of progressive and people-oriented programmes in the pipeline for the masses by the Kwara State Government.
