Odunayo Sanya, Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation and M.Sc. Media and Communication students, Pan - Atlantic University Lagos.

Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, recently spoke to the postgraduate students of the School of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University. She encouraged them to focus on the present and make the best use of their current situation rather than waiting for the future. She made this statement during the ‘Meet the Expert’ series on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, held at the university’s campus in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

The ‘Meet the Expert’ series allows Media and Communication students to interact with leaders and subject matter experts in their field. The series is an opportunity for students to learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry and gain invaluable insights that will help them in their future careers.

Odunayo shared her career journey and rose to become the MTN Foundation’s Executive Secretary. She highlighted several valuable life lessons that will guide the students as they proceed on their career paths.

“As you journey in life, a good performance will get you a step in the door, it might not necessarily provide opportunities, but it will put you ahead of others. It is also important to have an open mind wherever you find yourself. Be ready to learn.”

“You must also learn to take responsibility whether you are at fault or not. Always take responsibility. One hard lesson you should note is that you will take decisions by yourself, and no one will help you. The best anybody can do is to advise you, but you will take the major decisions.” she stated.

Odunayo encouraged the students to make the best of their youthfulness by upskilling, being innovative, and taking part in initiatives targeted at youth development, as organizations are always on the lookout to work with skilled youths.

She also mentioned that the MTN Foundation is highly invested in youth development and highlighted some initiatives like ICT and Business Skills training, Theatre and Arts support and scholarship initiatives. She laid emphasis on the ongoing MTN Foundation scholarship for undergraduate students and encouraged them to visit, and share with people around them who can benefit from it.
