LASUTH Medicine Department Donates Scrubs


In adherence to the guidelines by the Infection Prevention Control on safe healthcare practices, as regards healthcare associated infections especially in the face of the COVID 19 pandemic, the medicine department of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has taken giant strides by providing scrubs for doctors of all cadres in the department.


Head of the Medicine Department, Dr. Adebowale Adekoya, said the donation of the scrubs is in a bid to lend their support as a department to the hospital especially at these times when strict hospital protocols must be adhered to. He said further that, “Plans for the provision of these scrubs had been in the pipeline even before the pandemic and we are glad that it has become a reality. I recognize the effort of the immediate past head of department, Dr. Jumoke Oshinaike who set the ball rolling even before I took over the helms of affairs.” He noted that medical department has enjoyed the goodwill of the management and “we would do anything in our capacity to render our support for the work being done.”

The Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo was highly impressed by the effort and initiative taken by the department to improve service delivery. Describing the effort as ‘epoch making’, Prof. Fabamwo said he is glad the department is still forging ahead in the strides of the founding Professors who were meticulous and methodological in their approach to manning the department. He noted that the effort is a welcome initiative and hopes that other departments would borrow a leaf from the medical department.

The Director of Clinical Services and Training, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa also appreciated the thought process and encouraged them to set more examples for other departments. Prof. Awobusuyi, Prof. Yomi Ogun, Dr. Jumoke Oshinaike, Dr. Okogu and Dr. Dottie, all from the Medicine Department of LASUTH, were present at the donation.
