Market closes flat; Investors lost N954.04 million; Naira appreciated by 1.05% to close at ₦1418.78

The domestic bourse traded flat as mixed sentiment was observed across equities. The NGXASI recorded a slight decline from 102,108.05 points to 102,106.31 points, representing a 1.74-point decline.

The day’s negative performance was attributed to investors profit taking activities in major stocks like Dangote Cement (-5.63%), First Bank Nigeria Holdings (-1.97%), Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (-1.62%), GTCO (-1.75%), Dangote Sugar (-2.99%) and 30 other stocks.

Consequently, the year-to-date return decreased to 36.55%. In the same vein, the overall market capitalization declined by 0.00% to ₦55.87 trillion, as investors lost ₦954.04 million.

Market activity for the day was negative as volume and value traded decreased by 30.81% and 15.68% to close at 341.92 billion units and ₦6.41 billion.

We expect the equities market to trade mixed this week.

CURRENCY MARKET:

The Nigerian Naira appreciated by 1.05% against US Dollar in the NAFEM Window, closing at a rate of ₦1418.78.
