The management of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) have committed to a strategic partnership aimed at leveraging the power of broadcasting to advance innovation and economic development within the aviation sector.
The commitment was made during a high-level courtesy visit by the Director of Lagos Operations for the FRCN, Princess Adenike Adegoke, to the Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical Services at MMA2, Mr. Remi Jibodu.
Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Jibodu described the collaboration as a synergy between two critical pillars of national growth: aviation and broadcasting. He emphasized that as a premier gateway, MMA2 carries a unique responsibility to reshape the perceptions of returning Nigerians and international visitors.
“Operational excellence and passenger experience are at the heart of our mission,” Jibodu stated. “MMA2 was deliberately designed not just as a transit hub, but as a destination. From our integrated car park and seamless terminal access to our art gallery and vibrant food court, every element is curated to ensure travellers feel relaxed rather than burdened by the typical stresses of travel.”
Referencing the “Detty December” phenomenon—the annual surge of diaspora travel to Lagos—Jibodu noted that MMA2 has become a primary facilitator for tourism. He expressed confidence that a deeper partnership with the FRCN would help amplify the positive milestones being recorded in the private sector’s management of aviation infrastructure.
In her response, Princess Adenike Adegoke hailed MMA2 as a glowing example of private sector efficiency. She highlighted the expansive reach of Radio Nigeria, noting that the Lagos Operations alone manages a diverse portfolio including Metro FM 97.7, Radio One 103.5, and Bond FM 92.9.
“Our strength lies in our inclusivity,” Princess Adegoke remarked. “Through Bond FM, we communicate in Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and various local dialects, ensuring that wherever a Nigerian comes from, they hear a voice that makes them feel at home.”
She commended the visible infrastructure upgrades and professional conduct of MMA2 staff, noting that the terminal’s standards have turned it into a focal point for global convergence during peak travel seasons.
The FRCN Director assured the terminal management that the corporation is ready to deploy its nationwide network and digital platforms to educate travelers on airport procedures and safety measures.
“We are committed to projecting institutional achievements across the country and beyond. Radio Nigeria will continue to serve as a platform to highlight how facilities like MMA2 contribute meaningfully to the national economy and the aviation landscape,” she added.
The engagement concluded with both parties agreeing to develop specialized public service programs that will enhance the travel experience for millions of Nigerians.
