The ONE Campaign has hailed the outcome of the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) 21st replenishment pledging meeting, which successfully raised $100 billion to foster economic growth, enhance healthcare, and create opportunities in developing nations.
“This pledging conference represents a bold breakthrough in leadership to provide the investments needed to create economic opportunities and healthier lives,” said Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli, CEO of ONE. “Investing in IDA is not just a catalyst for growth—it is an opportunity to strengthen trust between G7 and African nations, fostering global stability and security. This is also an investment in the future. Thirty-five countries have transitioned from being IDA recipients to becoming donors, a testament to the power of targeted investments to transform economies, promote self-sufficiency, and empower nations to uplift others.”
The IDA pledging conference saw significant commitments from key global donors, with the United States and the United Kingdom lauded for their leadership and contributions at a critical time.
“We commend countries like the US and the UK for stepping up when it matters most,” added Nwuneli. “ONE will be holding all donors accountable to ensure these pledges are delivered in full. Additionally, we will work closely with African governments and civil society partners to maximize the impact of these resources.”
