An illustrious son of Okeho in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, High Prince Dr Leye Babalola has described the level of marginalisation of his native home (Okeho) by the current administration in Oyo State as gruesome, unfair and inhumane.
Dr Babalola who disclosed this through one of his social media page early hours of today condemned the unjust and unequal treatment by the Government of Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde’s Administration which has rendered Okeho town, headquarter of Kajola Local Government redundant, unproductive and unprogressive since inception of his Government in the State.
Speaking further, the Accounting Guru and Vice Chairman of Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, African Region, alleged Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration made fake promises to the people of Okeho severally and recently by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal at the Okeho Day Celebration in November, this year.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the occasion notes that the promise made by Barrister Bayo Lawal, is still fresh in my memory. “After his goodwill and campaign messages, he told us to come for a huge donation more than anyone else, but up till now nothing is done,” he affirmed.
High Prince Dr Leye Babalola also frowned at the decision of the State Government to embark on the rehabilitation of Alaga – Ijio Road project instead of Okeho- Iganna Road adding that the latter (Okeho-Iganna Road) has more economic value than the former, and can also boost the internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of both local and the State Government.
He said that the only benefit accrued to the good people of Okeho as dividend of democracy under the current administration is the light up Oyo project street light poles not yet completed unlike other towns and communities in the state. “Infact, the last time the State commissioner for Power and Energy Hon. Seun Ashamu came to inspect the project, he promised that the project would see the light of the day soon but surprisingly nothing is done till present. Too bad!” he decried.
Prince Babalola added that no Government has ever neglected the community like this in the past. Roads are deplorable, infrastructural amenities are not in place, General Hospital in the town is also crying for rehabilitation just to mention a few.
“The people of Okeho Town are ready to reciprocate the actions of the Governor in the forthcoming general election come February 2023,” he concluded.
