    Purposeful Leadership, Intra-Party Stability Key to Democratic Success – APC Chieftain

    Purposeful leadership and intra-party harmony and stability have been described as key elements for an enduring democratic system, which offers greater socio-economic development for a nation.

    A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, stated this on the sideline of APC Zonal Congress of the North-Eastern states which took place in Gombe on Wednesday.

    Haske said such intra-party stability has positioned the APC across the country as a party that has institutionalised progressive governance in all its activities at local, state and national levels, attributing the success to the purposeful leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as leader of the party.

    Hosted by the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, the high-level gathering, which drew an array of influential leaders within the APC fold, produced Barr. Idris Shaibu Gella, State Chairman, Adamawa State, as the new National Vice Chairman, North-East.

    Among those present were Governors Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, and Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State; Deputy Governor, Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur; Deputy National Chairman of APC, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori and the immediate past APC North-East Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salihu. Other party chieftains and stakeholders from across the geopolitical zone were also present.

    While congratulating the Gella and other officials elected to paddle the affairs of the APC in the North-East Zone, Haske said the peaceful conduct of the various party events across local, state and national levels reflects the deliberate stability which the party leadership has continued to create for all stakeholders in the country.

    Addressing party faithful and delegates on the sidelines of the congress, Haske described the gathering as a defining moment for the APC in the North-East, emphasising that the congress reflects the party’s unity, internal democracy, and readiness to consolidate its political strength ahead of future electoral contests.

    He said: “This Congress is not merely a procedural gathering; it is a powerful affirmation of our collective resolve as a party. It demonstrates that the APC remains united, focused, and prepared to deepen democratic values while advancing the development agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

    For the Adamawa-born political figure, the enthusiastic reception in Gombe marked yet another significant step in what many observers now describe as a steadily rising political wave ahead of the next governorship race in Adamawa.

    Haske also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the national leadership of the APC, and delegates at the congress for fostering a transparent and inclusive political environment within the party. According to him, the APC remains a platform where emerging leaders and fresh ideas can thrive.

    Meanwhile, the chants, banners, and visible grassroots mobilisation around Haske’s presence at the event were widely interpreted as an indication that his aspiration continues to gain traction within party ranks and among supporters.

    The congress, which commenced around 3:30 p.m., quickly transformed into more than a routine party gathering as Haske arrived with party stalwarts, youth mobilisers, and grassroots leaders.

    Supporters flooded the venue carrying placards, posters, and banners while chanting the electrifying slogan “Haske Maganin Duhu” and “Haske Is Okay,” in a vibrant show of solidarity that signaled the rising momentum behind his political movement.

    As the echoes of chants from supporters filled the air in Gombe around Haske, political watchers believe the electrifying reception accorded to Haske at the zonal congress has further positioned him as a key figure to watch in the unfolding political dynamics leading to the Adamawa governorship contest.

    Haske further called on party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the federation to rally behind the party as preparations intensify for the forthcoming APC National Convention slated for March 27-28, 2026, which, he described, as the apex gathering that will further strengthen the party’s unity and strategic direction.

    Actor, Chiwetalu Agu, sits with the host of #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo to discuss his dramatic arrest for wearing Biafran colours, sexual harassment and the gender wars, and how he survived death. 

    Speaking on his dramatic arrest for wearing the Biafran colours, he shared, “I was in Onitsha; I was buying bread. I came out to buy 4,000 worth of bread for the masses of Onitsha. I didn’t know when I bought more than that. By the time the soldiers came, I had bought 10,000-naira worth of bread. I had finished a shoot in Asaba, and I came to Onitsha just to say hello to some people. These people way-laid me out of hunger, and I had to stop to buy something for them. But, as I was buying, the population was multiplying. I didn’t even know the time the soldiers came. It is not a thing that you can find in civilized countries. What I heard from the grapevine was that an APC Man was watching the crowd multiply and was thinking that I was gathering votes for PDP. If you had seen me politicking, it would have made sense, but I was never seen anywhere. Anywhere I go, for all the (political) parties, I play father. And a father will always be neutral. If, for any reason, they put me in politics, I can’t play it the way you people are playing it.  

    “The only grounds for suspicion must have been that I was wearing Biafran clothes which I wore out of fancy. I didn’t meet any IPOB, IPOB is always in the mentality, and because they are fighting for a good cause, we can afford to talk about them all the time”, he added.  

    On his thoughts on sexual harassment and the outburst that followed, he shared, “The situation today is that women are now dominating. It is no longer men harassing women, women have taken over. Men no longer go to hotels or brothels, because women now confront you in the street, they don’t wait for you to come and see them in the hotel. That time is gone. Society has changed, women are now in control and men are dodging. Society is better now because when men were mounting pressure, there was bound to be rape, but today things have been changed” 

    Speaking on the attacks he faced, Chiwetalu Agu shared, “People were looking at me as if I were dying. I was shrinking. These were deadly arrows. Pins, cowries, sea stones, fetish substances were inside my body. I scratched. Then I will go to Prophet Ugo, who is somewhere. He has his office in a place called ‘Maryland area’. He’s a man I will call my man. We all have seen this world from peculiar angles where your enemy, personal enemy or family enemy, would just use medicine what Yoruba would call ‘juju’. Y

    ‘ou won’t know when they enter your body. Until they begin to scratch you, to give you hell, that is to pain you as if you’ll die the next moment. But if you go to Prophet Ugo, he will bring his holy oil to treat you. If you say, ‘it’s here’, he’ll bring the oil, rub here, rub it this way, and hold and feel it. If he feels the pin in your body, he’ll pull it. The picture is on Instagram. They’re still at my place, fresh. I’m keeping all of them for D-day. When I’ll say, ‘God, let me go and give special thanks to you’.  I’ve been thanking God every morning in my prayer, but this one I’m going to do it for God. Even many who were vast in using ‘medicine’ to kill fellow human beings, they saw me when I survived some of their attempts and they marvelled”.
