A Professor from the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, Mrs Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, has become the first female fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science.
It is a huge landmark in the history of the Academic fellow and University of Ilorin as Mrs Oladiji is to be inducted as the first recording female scientists into the prominent Nigerian Academy of Science.
It also occurred that professor Oladiji who has become one of the fellow of the prominent Academy of Science happens to be the fourth scientist from University of Ilorin to be selected in to the Academic fellow in the history of the institution. The ceremony of the induction took place at Reiz Continental Hotel Abuja.
Professor Oladiji who was the Director of Central Research Laboratories, University of Ilorin was selected after Professor Afolabi Toye, Professor Musbau Akanji, and Professor Samuel Akande who have been fellows of the society.
Oladiji began her career of service in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ilorin in 1992 working in the academic path as an Assistant Lecturer. She rose and eventually gained the professorial rank in 2011.
Several dignitaries were present at the induction ceremony. They include the Kwara state Governor, Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, the current Jamb Register who was also the former Vice Chancellor University of Ilorin, Professor Ishaq Oloyede and many other important individuals.
