inDrive, the ride-hailing company formerly known as inDriver, marked its 10th anniversary with a celebration in Lagos, Nigeria. The company also reiterated its commitment to strengthening mobility across the globe by enhancing its services for customers through transparency and fairness in the transport industry.

Oladimeji Timothy, business development representative for inDrive in Nigeria, said that the company has grown from a humble start on a university campus to a global Unicorn, with operations in over 700 cities and 45 countries. inDrive’s unique business model allows drivers and customers to negotiate the transport fare, ensuring fair prices and fostering a sense of community.

inDrive entered the Nigerian market in April 2019, with Lagos as the launch pad into other cities like Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Benin, Jos, Owerri, and Enugu. The company’s rapid adoption in Nigeria showcases the public’s eagerness for innovative ride-hailing solutions.

inDrive adapted to remote work during the pandemic in 2020, which aided its wide acceptance by the hailing public. By July 2020, inDrive had 50 million downloads globally, a show of its resilience and the relevance of its services even in challenging times.

As the world recovered from the pandemic, inDrive’s growth soared. By December 2021, it increased its operation into over 450 cities across 32 countries, with 900 employees and 550 million trips completed.

In 2022, inDrive solidified its position as the second most downloaded app reaching 100 million app installs in the ride-hailing sector. The shift marked a profound commitment to creating an environment where both service providers and customers found satisfaction and fulfillment.

inDrive is committed to putting people at the centre of its solutions. The company plans to expand to more areas, making its fair and transparent ride-hailing services available to even more people around the world.
