AfDB Authorizes Independent Review of Committee Report on Adesina

The Bureau of the Boards of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), has authorized an independent review following the report of the Ethics Committee of the Boards of Directors about the allegations considered and the submission made by the president of the Bank – Akinwumi Adesina.

This was made known in a communique signed by the Chairperson of the Bureau of the Board of Governors, Ms Niale Kaba on Thursday after a meeting by The Bureau of The Board of The Africa Development Bank group.

The Bureau reiterated that although it agrees that the Ethics committee has performed its role, however, in a bid to resolving the matter based on the views of some Governors, has decided on an independent review.

It reads: “The Independent Review shall be conducted by a neutral high caliber individual with unquestionable experience, high international reputation and integrity within a short-time period of not more than two to four weeks maximum, taking the Bank Group’s electoral calendar into account.”

It was also stated that, an independent comprehensive review of the implementation of the Banks Group’s Whistle-Blowing and Complaints Handling Policy should be conducted within a three to six-month period, to ensure that the current situation is avoided in the future.
