Bulls resume race as the Nigerian equities market halts last week’s negative closure to close the first trading day of the week in the green region amidst improved turnover.  The benchmark All-Share Index gained by 2bps to settle at 72,404.91 points from the previous sessions close of 72,389.23 points.

The upward upturn was influenced by investors’ buying interest in major stocks amongst which were; UBA (0.41%), FIDELITYBK (2.65%), WAPCO (0.50%), OANDO (0.48%) and 14 other stocks which kept the All-Share-Index in the green zone.

Consequently, the year-to-date returns rose to 41.27%, while the overall market capitalization increased by 0.02% to N39.62 trillion as investors’ wealth grew by N8.58 billion.

Market activity for the day was mixed as volume traded increased by 2.64% to 315.27 million units while value traded declined by 36.11% to N4.19 trillion.

We anticipate the equities to experience a mixed sentiment in this week.

CURRENCY MARKET:

The Nigerian Naira appreciated by 0.17% against the US Dollar in the NAFEM Window, closing at a rate of N888.35/USD.
