The Nigerian Equities Market closed in the green zone as the day’s session saw the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (NGXASI) advance by 163 basis points, closing at 102,802.25 points from 101,154.45 points in the previous session.
The day’s positive performance was attributed to investors showing interest in major stocks like United Bank for Africa (+9.84%), OANDO (+9.87%), Guaranty Trust Holding Company (+10.00%), Access Corporation (+9.91%), Zenith Bank (+9.97%) and 48 other stocks.
Consequently, the year-to-date return increased to 37.48%. In the same vein, the overall market capitalization gained by 1.63% to ₦56.26 trillion, as investors gained ₦901.78 billion.
Market activity for the day was mixed as volume traded increased by 14.93% to close at 861.01 billion units and value traded decreased by 45.96% to close at ₦12.16 billion.
We expect the equities market to trade mixed this week.
CURRENCY MARKET:
The Nigerian Naira depreciated by 0.43% against US Dollar in the NAFEM Window, closing at a rate of ₦1461.90.
