A significant step towards bolstering Nigeria’s digital capabilities was taken earlier this week as Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, alongside Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), sealed a strategic partnership with Nokia Solutions and Networks Nigeria. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s journey towards technological advancement.
Under this partnership, Nokia Nigeria will establish a fully operational 5G/4G test lab, harnessing its cutting-edge radio and transmission technologies. This initiative is poised to revolutionize the telecommunications landscape in Nigeria, ushering in a new era of connectivity and innovation.
The collaboration underscores a shared vision to enhance the capacity and skillset of Nigerians, equipping them with the requisite expertise to thrive in the dynamic telecommunications industry. By providing training on the latest 4G/5G radio and transmission technologies at the Nigerian Communications Commission’s Digital Parks, this initiative will empower young Nigerians with contemporary skills and knowledge essential for success in the digital age.
Aligned with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s mission to promote digital literacy and cultivate a pool of technical talents nationwide, Nokia Nigeria will also establish an Entrepreneur Learning Programme. This program will deliver top-tier vocational training to 200 Nigerian students selected from various regions across the country, spanning the six geopolitical zones.
This collaborative effort signifies a monumental stride towards realizing Nigeria’s digital potential. By fostering innovation, enhancing technical proficiency, and nurturing entrepreneurship, the partnership between Dr. Bosun Tijani, Dr. Aminu Maida, and Nokia Nigeria promises to propel Nigeria into a leading position in the global digital arena.
