Kunle Awojobi’s collection of poems titled “Harvest of Gratitudes” is set for release on July 27, 2024.
The poetry collection, which centres on diverse issues in contemporary Nigerian society, is presented in seven sections: State of the Matter, Life and Realities, Divinity, Parenthood, Harvest of Gratitudes, Hope, and Songs of Tributes.
The collection captures sundry themes that explain our social reality, such as corruption, bad leadership, deceit, mismanagement of public resources, poverty, failed promises, religious hypocrisy and bigotry, dereliction of responsibilities, selfishness, failed monetary and economic policies, dilemma, poor public service and infrastructure, frustration, social unrest, and insecurity.
The poet effectively balanced his view of life by not focusing on lamentation but also bringing to the fore themes such as Divinity, Parenthood, Appreciation, Hope, and Songs of Tributes to express some hope, encourage a sense of unity and patriotism, and demonstrate unalloyed gratitude.
As stated by renowned scholar of Communication and Language Arts, Babatunde Ojebuyi, PhD. in the foreword of the collection, “This anthology is, no doubt, a humble but brilliant corpus of beneficial knowledge that will surely endure. This exemplary collection is strongly recommended for every individual who truly loves the elegant use of beautiful language to capture social reality and recreate unique experiences.”
One of his students, Bola Olalere, the publisher of Okeho News noted that Mr. Awojobi was a foremost teacher of English language in Okeho and he has been a consistent columnist in OkehoNews for the past 22 years.
Born in Okeho years ago, Kunle Awojobi started his teaching career at Baptist High School, Okeho, in 1995 and served in various capacities in the teaching profession, including Vice Principal and teacher’s Supervisor. He was also the Principal of Onjo High School, Okeho, until his retirement.
Mr Awojobi is currently the secretary of the Egbe Omo Ibile Okeho, the coordinating body of all communal developmental associations for all sons and daughters of Okeho pan-Nigeria and diaspora.
The release of “Harvest of Gratitudes” coincided with Kunle Awojobi’s retirement ceremony from Oyo State civil service, who served meritoriously.
