As residents of Alapere-Ketu are yet to get over the inferno that engulfed the popular Ketu Plank Market on Sunday, December 27, 2020; a mixed developed bungalow located on the same Demurin street went up in flames this evening, December 30. The building used for both residential and commercial purposes all became rubbles as inferno rendered the occupants homeless.

A Facebook post by Are Sulaimon Abiodun about 7pm reads thus, “Fire Outbreak at Demurin Street Ketu please help contact Fire Service around the area.

According to an eye witness account, the fire started from the residential part of the building before spreading to other parts of the building. He said, “It is such a pity that the newly opened barbing salon in the building was totally destroyed.”

At the time of gathering this report, there were four fire-fighting trucks of the Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos Rescue Unit (LRU) at the scene of the incident to salvage the situation.

Are Sulaimon Abiuodun later updated his post saying, “You better thank God, Dupe Tie, Today, fire razed a building and the occupant cannot pick any of their property, but they still have life.”
