National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has approved the appointment of the following individuals as Directors on the Board of SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc, effective Thursday, 27th November 2025.
Mr. Roland Ouedraogo obtained a Post Graduate Research Degree from Ouagadougou in February 1997 and Post Graduate Degree in Actuarial Science from Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). He bagged his Ph.D in Mathematics from University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
He has sound knowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance with years of experience in Operations, Information
Technology and Human Resources. He is currently the CEO of SUNU Reassurance (reinsurance captive of SUNU Group) and has held several managerial roles in different organizations. He is a Director on the Board of the Association of Insurers of Côte d’Ivoire (ASACI). He is also the Vice President of Professional Association of Insurance Companies in Burkina Faso.
Mr. Ouedraogo was appointed as Non-Executive Director of SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc on 23 July 2025.
He speaks English, French and Moore Languages.
The board also appointed Mr. Elie Ogounigni obtained his Bachelors in Bank Administration in 1997 from Institute National de l’Eau,
Université Abomey-Calavi, Bénin, and his master’s degree in accounting and finance from DESCF of the Academy of Paris (France) in 2004. He obtained his Certificate of Completion of Chartered Accountant Traineeship issued by the French Chartered Accountants Association (OEC in Paris) France.
He began his career as an Accountant in 1998 and steadily advanced to become the General Manager, Risk and Control of SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc. Over the course of his career, Mr. Ogounigni has participated in numerous professional training programmes covering Audit, Risk Management, Strategy and Leadership, as well as Fraud Detection and Management.
He was appointed as the Executive Director, Risk and Control of SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc on 23 July 2025.
He speaks English, French and Yoruba Languages.
The Board is confident that the newly appointed Directors will bring fresh perspectives and strong leadership to guide the Company’s continued growth.
