The Becoming Her Women Empowerment Initiative, founded by Olufunmi Adisa, officially launched on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, with a landmark event in Lagos. The non-profit organisation is dedicated to empowering women through financial literacy, mentorship, and community support.
The launch event combined inspiration with tangible impact. Ahead of the gathering, women in the Becoming Her community pitched their businesses and outlined the support needed to take them to the next level. During the event, four outstanding women were awarded business grants, sharing a total of ₦1,000,000 in funding to help them scale their enterprises.
“This is what Becoming Her is supporting other women, it is not simply about conversation but transformation, women gaining the confidence, resources, and networks they need to build purposeful, independent lives.”
The Initiative is committed to driving empowerment through three key areas:
- Mindset Shift – breaking limiting beliefs and fostering a growth culture.
- Economic Empowerment – providing skills training, financial education, and funding access.
- Supportive Community – building safe spaces with peers and mentors.
Flagship programmes include:
- The Becoming Her Network – mentorship and wellness support.
- Becoming Her Grants – financial support for women-led businesses.
- Becoming Her Teens – early leadership and confidence programmes for girls.
- Events & Workshops – transformative gatherings to learn and connect.
The launch event featured notable speakers who shared practical insights:
- Ijeoma Nwoye, Digital Entrepreneur, on social media growth, in her talk, she said, “Social media is more than likes. It is a tool to drive real sales. With consistency and the right strategy, Every woman can harness that power.”
- Iheoma Duru, Relationship Mentor, on family life highlighted that, “A thriving marriage is not accidental. It is built daily with love, respect, and grace. Choosing joy and peace transforms homes.”
- Azeezat Ibrahim, Career Development Coach, on professional growth mentioned to participants that, “Excellence and personal branding are the cornerstones of career advancement. Position yourself boldly and opportunities will follow.”
- The organisation is inviting donors, corporate partners, and philanthropists to partner in extending its reach. Contributions will expand the grant scheme for widows, struggling mothers, and underserved women, as well as fund training, mentorship, and sustainable solutions.
“When one woman rises, she carries her family, her community, and her nation with her,” Adisa emphasised.
