According to police spokesman Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, five people have been killed in and around Johannesburg in the latest wave of xenophobic attacks.

The township was scene to a second night of urban rioting in Johannesburg, where hundreds of people marched through the streets on 2 September in an unusually large expression of anti-foreigner sentiment. Early on Tuesday, members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) fired rubber bullets as another wave of xenophobic attacks hit Johannesburg.
